The Bronze BX evolution features C-CAM drivers, single bolt driver fixings, improved crossovers, HiVE reflex ports, magnetic grille attachment and no fewer than four vinyl wood finishes in Walnut, Natural Oak, Rosemah and Black Oak. From the top of their beautifully made cabinets to their precision-machined footings, the seven slender Bronze BX models demonstrate an accomplished union of fidelity and style that evokes the truest spirit of Monitor Audio.
Ever more advanced computer simulation has allowed Monitor Audio to optimise the tweeter design for higher sensitivity, greater detail and a bandwidth that extends beyond 30kHz. The tweeter sits in a dedicated chamber, which incorporates graduated damping to reduce undesirable resonances for a smoother more accurate response. Optimised using FEA (Finite Elemental Analysis), the BX bass and mid-range drivers have improved voice-coil designs, strengthened chassis and more agile motor assemblies, producing greater linearity, efficiency, and a naturally even tonality. They’re secured on a single rigid through-bolt, which is fixed to the back of the cabinet rather than at the front baffle. This method, perfected for our RX and GX ranges, effectively decouples the driver from the cabinet, reducing colouration, improving system transparency and adding structural rigidity in the process.
In Bronze BX the benefits of Monitor Audio's ceaseless search for audio purity and design excellence are dedicated to your enjoyment of music and film audio.
BX2 Bookshelf Speakers
The BX2 develops the considerable talents of its award-winning BR2 forerunner to a new intensity. Improved crossover and driver designs combine to re-calibrate the capabilities of an acknowledged class champion, bringing greater dynamic expression, mid-range clarity and lower distortion to lovers of music and film sound. Loaded with a 165mm (6 1/2") C-CAM® bass mid range driver and 25mm (1") C-CAM tweeter, the BX2's high quality cabinet mirrors the unobtrusive dimensions of the celebrated BR2, and so is easy to position, even in smaller rooms. Compact in size, but equipped to reproduce sound of immense stature and detail, the BX2 is the new definitive budget blockbuster.
BX Centre Speaker
For the BX Centre Monitor Audio demolished the limitations of entry-level design by creating a speaker that reproduces voice with unfailing detail and accuracy. Its system of twin 140mm (5 1/2") C-CAM drivers and 25mm (1") C-CAM tweeter complements the driver architecture of other BX series speakers, to create a wide and detailed front sound-stage, characterised by pin-point imaging.
The BXW-10 subwoofer represents a significant step up from its predecessor, the highly regarded BRW10. It's as compact as its forerunner, but more potent in every respect. A new 10" C-CAM driver and 200 watt Class-D power amplifier have been devised in tandem to provide class leading standards of control, speed and punch. Featuring a new, fully integrated switch mode power supply, the new amplifier develops considerably more power than its predecessor, adding grip and clean bass delivery below 30Hz. A range of beautiful vinyl wood finishes provides the superlative looks to complement its accomplished deep bass performance.
BXFX Dipole Surround Sound Speakers
The versatile BX-FX dual-mode surround speaker adds the facility to switch dispersion for side or rear channel use, allowing the BX-FX to optimise five or seven channel systems. Utilising a single 140mm (5 1/2") C-CAM bass/mid-range driver flanked by two 25mm (1") C-CAM tweeters on angled baffles, the super-compact BX-FX is easy to position for amazing surround effects and is available in the BX range of finishes for a closer décor blend.
Ceramic-Coated Aluminium/Magnesium is a material originally developed by the aerospace industry for jet engine components. Its properties are ideal for loudspeaker cones being extremely rigid, yet light enough to yield high overall efficiency. In manufacture, aluminium/magnesium alloy undergoes a three-stage stress-relieving process to remove surface deformation and molecular weakness. Once formed, the alloy cone is subjected to a high temperature anodic coating process in which a layer of pure ceramic alumina is depleted onto its surfaces to a depth of 50 microns, producing a completely rigid sandwich of alloy and heat-dissipating ceramic material. Conventional cones are liable to flex or twist in operation, producing a significant level of audible distortion. C-CAM cones have a much higher resistance to bending stress and therefore exhibit much greater fidelity over their entire operating range. C-CAM tweeters and woofers share an audible consistency producing a smooth transition of frequencies and a sense of realism and cohesion in the soundstage.
The gold dome tweeter is formed from a ceramic-coated aluminium/magnesium alloy, gold anodised to a specific thickness for ideal stiffness and damping characteristics. Its new profile and surround geometry have been developed using advanced modelling tools, to provide the optimum qualities for accurate sound reproduction. The new design moves the first order of breakup to beyond 35kHz, producing a linear response way beyond audibility, which matches the wide frequency bandwidth available from HD music and cinema sound formats. The gold dome is thinner, lighter, more rigid and therefore more efficient than domes made from other materials which are prone to distortion in the audio band.
A new type of port technology which uses a straight rifled design to accelerate air flow and reduce turbulence. HiVe II technology has the ability to move air in and out much quicker than a conventional port, the result is fast powerful bass coupled with superior transient response.
