The GR8 employs a single armature driver per channel, which means there's no crossover, no bulky body and no smearing! Eliminating the crossover means a purer, simpler signal path, improving everything from tonal balance to imaging. Grado's use of a single driver in the GR8 eliminates the distortion caused by multiple drivers, it also means Grado can use a single higher quality driver instead of multiple cheaper ones. This also has the effect of making the GR8's chassis significantly smaller and lightweight than their competition, since the body only has to accomodate one driver, not multiples.
The GR8s are easy to fit and very comfortable to wear, even for long listening sessions. Their small size nestles properly within the ear canal, maintaining an excellent seal for proper bass response and noise isolation without causing discomfort. Three sizes of medical-grade silicone tips are provided to match the size of your ear canal.
Other innovative features include a raised dot on the left earphone provides tactile identification, allowing GR8s to be put on correctly and quickly, even in the dark! The GR8’s high-quality cabling is long enough to reach into a shoulder bag or shirt pocket and the “Y” is long enough to ensure they won't pop out when you turn your head.
